12 SEO Tips to Improve Your Website SERP

What is the best SEO advice you can give me?

My best advice for improving web positioning is that you listen to the advice of 12 SEO experts.

We often read articles to keep up to date with the best SEO techniques to implement both on our websites and those of our clients. In this task, the other day I read an article that I found interesting and that I leave for you to value:

SEO experts give us their best tips to improve web positioning:

1. Create Trust

“Focus on building trust through everything you do online and offline,” says McGee. He explains how he has two audiences: search engines and humans. Search engines like Google show web pages that you trust to show to users. Human beings trust Google to show them the web pages that answer their questions.

If you create “human” and trusted content, and work some of the technical aspects to ensure that Google can process your content, Google will trust your website and according to McGee, “… natural traffic will grow and grow and grow. You will not have to worry about the algorithm changes. Your website will be “analyzed” more deeply, content indexing will be faster, and you will be able to get better rankings for faster terms sooner. “

2. Generates Virality

Fishkin says that one of his favorite SEO tips he recommends is “create a site, service, product or hook that has a natural viral component, of accessible feedback to the search engines.” He goes on to explain that this is done through links, embedded content (such as infographics, see below), badges, and incentives to share. As examples, point to the evolution graphs of SimplyHired jobs, OKCupids blog entries based on data (the new post no longer, but still a great example), and Mixcloud social voting / promotion.

Fishkin could have included Moz’s own SEO Guide for beginners and other MOZ guides on his list, which have been seen millions of times. Fishkin says that once you figure out how to produce content that goes viral, in many ways you’ve already won the SEO game. “The key components then become the content, keywords and a scalable business model.”

3. TEST!

In addition to emphasizing the importance of real knowledge of SEO techniques and analytics, Stewart aims to test as something fundamental to SEO because things change continuously. “There is no single model to be successful in SEO,” he says, “If there were, we would all be rich. This is what makes this field so fascinating – it’s dynamic and it’s very difficult. “So put on your lab coat and start experimenting and analyzing the results.

 4. Answer Questions

“If you want to position a specific keyword, make sure you have a web page that answers questions about the subject,” says Heitzman. It sounds easy, but many companies forget this simple strategy. Heitzman further explains: “One practice that I like to use is to take a step back and think about if you were looking for ‘x keyword’ what questions would you have? How can I incorporate this into my page so that the user has no reason to abandon it?

5. Voice results

If you’re over 40, you might think about how people “write a search” on Google. However, the voice search is next, and the keywords that people use, when they perform the search and how the results are obtained are changing.

In Google, the results that are obtained from a voice search often appear in a response box on the search engine results page (SERP). When there is a result in that box, Google often “talks” the result to you. “With the increase in platforms that incorporate voice search, getting your site to appear in the response box is going to be key,” says Holland. Recommends the creation of SEO headings that answer questions that users may request from search engines, and then answer these questions directly in a concise manner. “Once you have the optimized structure of your page it is time to improve the visibility of the page in the SERPs. The key is to do it on your first page (home page) -.

6. Understand your customers

You can not address someone you do not understand; this could be the best way to summarize Solis’s advice. She emphasizes the importance of building a relationship with clients based on understanding their processes, rather than what is an isolated activity. Aleyda says “It is necessary to answer the questions” What is the search behavior of your audience in your target market? What, when, how and from where do they look? How does your competence respond to these questions? ‘” When answering these and other questions Solis says “That is when you will have the necessary knowledge to identify the best way to connect with your search audience and you will be able to identify what technique, what content and what link building of your site should be optimized and promoted. In order to maximize your visibility in search results for relevant queries”

7. Understand Google

If you need to spend time understanding your customers, you also have to understand Google and other search engines. “He spends as much time in understanding Google as understanding why people buy, why people trust, or the impact of the brand on the purchase,” says Reynolds. “Search is a tool to connect people with what they want – algorithms do not buy from your company, people do it.”

 8. Choose keywords well

As much as SEO these days talk about search intentions and focus on topics instead of keywords, when someone goes to Google, they still type, or say keywords in the search engine. “You have to invest a lot of time researching the keywords that potential customers are going to use,” says Beal. “The terms and keywords that are specific to your industry may not match the actual search queries.” Considering that up to 15% of all Google queries are completely new, which have not been done before, this is very important.

9. About them, not about you

The success of SEO does not only depend on technical considerations, but often people are involved. An impatient boss can finish an SEO project before he has had time to succeed. A content team with other priorities may forget a basic component of SEO. “Make others be the heroes. Show them how to do an SEO job supports their own goals, “says Forrester. “They win, you win, and you win the business. Otherwise you see yourself as someone who makes others take on more work. “Forrester says this helps keep in mind that everyone has a set of goals that are working towards the same end, and that when you succeed in showing them how SEO helps you achieve your goals, then it also helps you succeed with your goals.

10. Become an Expert

“Whatever sector you’re in, you should become an expert,” says Rampton. “Be out there helping others and proving you’re an expert.” Rampton advises doing this by creating valuable content such as podcasts, videos, slide shows, chats, and blog posts to help others get more knowledge about you and what you know and do. “The more expert you are, and the more content you create as a result of it, the better it will be for your brand and the SEO results will arrive. Then you will begin to grow by yourself because you will become the person to turn to speak at events, be a guest on a podcast, and comment on articles.”

11. Connect SEO and SOCIAL MEDIA

Is there a connection between social media and SEO? Of course, says Yu. “SEOs neglect the connection between search and social media, but I like = links,” he says. He recommends “Generate authority spending one dollar a day, use Facebook segmentation to reach journalists, media and influential people”. “When they see you in a reputable publication they are more likely to reach you and link to your content.”

12. Publish quality content

“Post quality content, and the rest of the pieces will fit in place,” says DeMers. “Your content strategy is the backbone of your SEO strategy, as it fuels social media (acts as an amplifier to extend the reach of content) and therefore gains inbound links.” If this seems to summarize many of the others Previous tips, maybe it is because it is a fundamental part of the success of SEO.

Black Hat SEO: What You Should NEVER do in Web Positioning

It is well known that one of the tools to make our website or online store visible is search engine positioning. This is to improve the visibility of our website in search engines through SEO techniques, such as generating quality content or generating web traffic. These techniques will help us to position ourselves in the different search engines, especially in Google (which is used 90% of the time).

There are many web pages that are based on these SEO techniques to position themselves in search engines, based on the guidelines that Google uses according to their algorithms. But there are other websites that apply other techniques hidden and not accepted by the search engine. These techniques are what are called Black Hat SEO and, generally, can become counterproductive for our positioning.

Then I leave some of the techniques that you should flee to not penalize the positioning of your site:

Spamming Keywords:

This technique, penalized by the algorithm of Google Penguin 2.0, seeks to incorporate the largest number of keywords in the content of a web page. For example:

“SEO is good, that’s why SEO should be applied. Google likes SEO, that’s why SEO is good. It is important to have SEO on our website and apply SEO”

Although search engines are currently working to detect when a phrase is not well structured, in general terms the density of keywords in a text should be between 3% and 12%. When this percentage is exceeded, Google will penalize the website, pushing back positions in the search engine.

Hidden text:

This technique consists of including hidden content in the website, putting the letters of the same color as the background. Thus, the search engine considers that the text belongs to the website, but the visitor can not read it. Currently, spammers use CSS to hide the text or add attributes to hide the content. Even so, search engines can detect it at once, instantly penalizing these web pages.

These two are just some of the many techniques not recommended to position your website. To learn more, do not hesitate to visit SubmitLeader’s Blog , the source of this post.

It is important to verify the techniques used in your online positioning, since if you do any of these activities, Google will penalize you.

5 Linkbuilding Tips For SEO Positioning

The Linkbuilding (literally link building) has been and remains very important to give value to your website. It is a strategy of optimizing internal and external links of a web page, with the aim of obtaining a good positioning in the search engines. This strategy is to get important websites that may be related to your page include links to your website, using optimal keywords. Linkbuilding is a very good way to get better positioning in search engines, because your page gets a vote every time another site links to you, offering you more visibility in the search engines. Doing it well requires a good strategy and takes a lot of time and research.

Last April, Google implemented a robot called Google Penguin. This one detects in the pages the links of low quality and with the backlinks of doubtful reputation, the pages on optimized (that is to say with too many links) and the techniques ‘Black hat’ (manipulation of searchers).

Here are some simple tips for you to do a good Linkbuilding:

1. – Create natural links to your page by publishing content as a guest on other pages or inviting others to publish in yours. The best way is choosing pages that have more traffic than yours.

2. – Choose a text for your Anchor Text (the text that you put to the link) original and not repeat.

3. – Publish very interesting content such as videos, blog entries, infographics or presentations in a way that encourages other people to link to their pages, that is, what we call Link Bait .

4. – Look at the links strategies of the competition. Use tools such as Open Site Explorer. With it you get information about the links, the Anchor and the authority where each link is located.

5. – Create a linkbuilding strategy, choosing carefully the pages in which you want to put your links and book a couple of hours a week in your calendar. It is a slow process but with results.

What Are The Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) And How do They Work?

AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) is an Open Source project launched by Google that begins at the end of 2015 in response to Facebook Instant Articles. It was born with the will to show pages with a very low loading time on mobile devices. To achieve this, what he proposes is to offer the most simplified version of the page. An adapted html language (amp html) is used and the resource load is limited. For example:

CSS: only those are online and weighing less than 50 kb can be used

Javascript: AMP only allows javascript to be loaded asynchronously and does not block the representation of the page

It is very easy to detect an AMP result in the SERPs; it is enough to detect those results with the lightning symbol when a search is made on a mobile device.

How AMP works

When SERPs detect AMP results, they are loaded quickly, since the execution of the AMP itself is performed directly on Google servers.

When Google detects a URL with a label that indicates that there is an AMP version, it tracks and validates that the standards are met. Below you can see an example of how Google is told that an AMP page exists.

If the standards are met, Google indicates that the URL has an AMP version. On the other hand, it saves a version of the page in its cache. Thus, when a user performs a search, the search engine loads the content from its own CDN server in a pre-render and when the user hits a hit in one of the results, it shows the content almost immediately.

AMP components

AMP pages are composed of three elements:

It is an adapted HTML code that, as we advanced, contains some limitations and particularities. These particularities translate into extensions of the code that include components such as AMP own tags. Below we can see an example of basic AMP HTML that includes what is strictly necessary:

The first thing that can get our attention is the html ϟ that is necessary to specify that it is an html amp code. AMP highlights the fact that tags and components are used different from the usual html.

Examples of tags: amp-img, amp-form, amp-video, amp-pixel, etc. We can find them all here.

It is important to note that AMP is not simply a series of labels that are added to your original HTML page, but it implies a new writing and layout.

Thanks to the AMP JS library, fast loading of AMP HTML pages is achieved.

This library follows the recommended performance practices of AMP. These have certain limitations when it comes to managing the load of resources and offering those components and specific tags of AMP HTML that we have commented on in the first point.

In relation to the limitations we can highlight some points:

– AMP only allows asynchronous Javascript. Thus, the resources are loaded in parallel to the page’s HTML load, so that these resources do not block the representation of the page.

– The use of safe spaces when including the different elements of the page. That is, each element must have a predetermined space, since design re-calculations are not made once the different resources are loaded, so everything that is loaded must already have dimensions (a space) associated.

– Slow CSS selectors are disabled.

– Only one CSS in line with a weight less than 50kb is allowed. On the other hand, statements such as: !mportant are disabled.

AMP cache:

As we progressed, Google saves a version of the AMP pages in the cache and loads the content of the pages from its own server, when the search results are loaded. At this point, the pages are validated to ensure their operation and to ensure that their load does not depend on external resources that may block it.

AMP, just for news?

At the beginning it seems that the pages that have AMP are related to news, news carousel or editorial content. But AMP was created to be implemented in e-commerce. In fact there are early adopters of the project like eBay or Airbnb that show their results in this way:

What should we keep in mind when implementing MPAs?

In the case of Airbnb, the company took into account 4 factors when deciding whether to implement AMP and in which pages of its website. These factors were:

  • The impact of traffic (if AMP brings quality traffic or not)
  • Volatility of the page (constant changes / updates every X minutes)
  • The technical challenges that implementation may involve
  • The ownership of the page (if you have control over it or not)

Implement it throughout the website?

In pages that present technical challenges and are going to be updated very frequently, it may be inadvisable (in Airbnb they decided not to implement AMP in their Home page for that reason). What they decided to do was to test it in the search result pages of its interface, since it had a sufficient traffic source to detect a relevant change in case AMP was effective and the changes would not be as disruptive as in the Home.

It is important to set criteria and guidelines to follow. It is also convenient to test the operation in some pages or sections of the web before implementing it throughout the site (especially if the site is large).

We must create an MVP: Minimum viable product. When creating our MVP we must take into account several factors:

  • How AMP will behave in relation to the design of our website
  • How it will affect the workflow of the company’s developers
  • How AMP will affect the user experience (and the product)

How to detect and validate an AMP page

There are several ways to validate our AMP pages; here I will add the 3 main ones:

Console for developers: the AMP page is opened, “# development = 1” is added to the end of the URL and the console is opened (in mac: command + alt + J) to see the validation errors:

From the validator’s website: https://validator.ampproject.org/

Using the browser extension: during navigation, the page is automatically validated by displaying different colors depending on the state. (Here you will find the extension for Chrome)

We must bear in mind the importance of the performance of our websites on mobile devices. Taking into account that since 2016 more than half of the queries received by the main search engines come from these devices, it is crucial to optimize them to offer the user the best possible experience. For this reason, it is important to keep up to date on the latest news about AMP. Read us and do not miss anything!

Solutions And Alternatives to Google Keyword Planner

It is no longer a mystery what happened a few weeks ago in one of the tools Google who liked to SEO’s … Dear Google Keyword Planner , also known as “Keyword Planner of Google” has stopped showing volumes for exact keywords and now you can only see a very wide range of the volume of a keyword. I emphasize on this because a range of 10k – 100k makes a huge difference … I mean, Google, are you telling me that “wedding dresses” can have 10,000 searches a month or 100,000?

Let’s see, I understand that Google is a private company, and that now they want to offer accurate information only to advertisers who are investing their money in it with their Adwords campaigns. But the first time I’ve found my reaction has not been the most comprehensive…

Solution to the limitation of the Keyword Planner

I think the first thing that we have all done, has been to go to Google search solutions / remedies / tricks, to get back the exact search volumes. The only thing that I have found in several reference websites in the United States has been the following method:

Step 1:

Add to the plan all the keywords of our interest and click on the button “Review plan”

Step 2:

What we will see next is a screen like the following one, where we will have to introduce a quite high bid, select the “Keyword” tab and select an exact match type.

Step 3:

Now, you can see how many times each word is printed, a figure that corresponds well to the desired search volume that we are looking for.

Even so I am not satisfied; I still miss knowing the seasonality of the keywords and, therefore, the distribution of that volume throughout the year.

Let’s say that this solution has not just been comfortable for me in a research and analysis of keywords, so then, I bring you the best free and paid tools, to make an exhaustive keywords analysis for our online projects.

2 free alternative tools to the Keyword Planner

Finding completely free tools that offer something similar to what the Keyword Planner gave us has been an odyssey … But here I present 2 tools that return the search volume of any keyword , being able to make all the requests you want without limitations during all the day.

This tool offers, among other features, the “Keyword research” tool that allows you to search for a keyword and returns a good list of keywords related to the corresponding average search volume.

You can sort by volume, filter keywords and add them to a list that you can download with a simple click.

The best thing is that it is a free tool that you can also use without having to register.

As “against” you can not select the country and the reference language, so we have to understand that data as representative and not entirely accurate.

To use Wordze, you will have to create an account, but it offers you much more information than the tools we have just seen and also allows you to select the country and language for your keywords.

Among the functionalities that I appreciate most is the possibility of seeing the seasonality of each keyword and, therefore, see the search volume distributed throughout the months of the year.

To see everything that this tool offers, I suggest you take a look at this presentation video:

As “against” it has to be a very slow tool to load when you are doing any search and that, in addition, although it shows you the volume of each month of the year, it is not a data that you can export (just as you could do with the Google Keyword Planner).

The best payment tools to search for keywords

Many of the tools that I show you below have, in addition to the function of searching for keywords, also other very interesting functionalities and sometimes essential for any SEO. Therefore, although the word “payment” may scare a little, you have to think that paying only one of these tools you will also have access to many more important data for the organic positioning of your project.

There are many, many payment tools to search for keywords that I have found in the research and analysis that you find in this article, but I’ll only present you the best ones so that you invest your money in tools that are truly worthwhile.

Ahrefs is an essential tool for the analysis of backlinks both your website and all your competitors, but also offers the “Keyword Explorer” which, in addition to showing the volume of keywords, also provides other valuable data such as keyword difficulty (the difficulty to position each word), the CPC, the number of results in Google and the number of words that make up each keyword. And, best of all, you can set up advanced filters to show you what interests you the most.

Semrush is THE tool that all SEO must consult for multiple functionalities. Regarding our subject matter with keywords, Semrush provides the valuable ” Keyword Analytics ” that shows both phrase matching and related keywords, as well as offering very useful data such as keyword difficulty, the number of results for each keyword.

If you do not have an account in Semrush, you can try it for free for two months and if you want to know a little more about this tool I recommend reading this article.

Kw Finder

Now, we are talking about a tool that is highly focused on the task of searching for keywords: KwFinder. Very usable and with a simple and functional design, this tool provides many essential and complete data that you can add to a list of favorites or export in CSV.

One of the most interesting features for which it stands out, in comparison to the two previous tools, is that it allows you to import keywords: fundamental when you want to upload a file or simply paste a list of words that you have found using the complementary tools (I will present you more ahead) and you need to know the search volumes.

KwFinder has a free version that lets you perform 2 searches daily for unregistered users and 5 for those who created an account, giving you the possibility to try it before buying it.

There are many “fans” of this tool, and I also include it in my favorites list, although I find it a bit expensive for the data it offers: search volume (and its trend throughout the year), CPC and competition in Adwords (these last two data you already know you can get them for free through the Google Keyword Planner …).

Still, it is a tool worth mentioning because it offers a list of keywords much wider than the previous ones and, in this, it is almost insurmountable!

To know keywordtool.io I recommend reading this post on Dean Romero’s blog.

Complementary keyword search tools

To conclude this post, I’m going to tell you about the many tools that exist as a complement to a keyword research work and I’ll reveal the best … Ready?

All the tools you will find below do not return search volumes and fulfill the same simple function: concatenate the keyword searched with all the letters of the alphabet , numbers and (some) with prefixes and suffixes to return all the keywords in mid and long tail:

·        Keywordtool.io (in its free version)

·        Keyword.io

·        Ubersuggest.io

·        Keyword Shitter (version 2 of this tool has just come out and now allows you to include prefixes and suffixes such as: “who, what, where, when, why, how, with, without, close … and a long etcetera!)

·        Hypersuggest (offers the same as Keyword Shitter 2)

and … the wonderful Answer the Public that, as you may have understood, is my favorite

Why? Because it not only works like the ones I just presented you for searching for mid and long tail, but also uses google’s suggestions to find the questions that users ask in the search engine . I better show you an example…

For our keyword “wedding dresses” the tool has taken 694 keywords that contain the exact word between: letters of the alphabet, prepositions and questions.
